MOVE Big Installation Party

"At times, the best ideas are conceived from flipping them upside down — that’s what happened when our team got together to deliberate an idea for the party. The installation seeks to evoke the term ‘move’ while also doing the exact opposite: sitting precisely and impossibly motionless. The office room will appear flipped, ceiling and floor in reverse, with boxes in disarray, communicating the occupants’ motives. Some boxes will be toppled or opened; each item will be suspended in mid-air, filling the room with a chaotic stillness. Let’s turn the world of architecture upside down for a night.”

 

Our entry was selected to be built for the night of the OAA //MOVE: Big Installation Party held on September 15th, 2017. We largely reused the materials from the office itself. The ceiling tiles and carpet were from the room, and the boxes, magazines and old drawings were recycled from the respective firms we had worked with over the summer.
